sustainHK is a community-driven map for recycling and sustainable businesses in Hong Kong. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data.
What We Collect
We do not require user accounts. If you submit a location or report an issue, we may collect your email address strictly for internal verification. We may also request your device's location to center the map.
How We Use Data
Location data is processed entirely on your device and never sent to our servers. Submission emails are used solely to contact you regarding your submission if necessary.
Data Sources
Map data is sourced from the Environmental Protection Department (GREEN@COMMUNITY), data.gov.hk, and community submissions.
Cookies & Storage
We use local storage on your device to remember your preferences, such as your selected language and map filters.
Third-Party Services
We use open-source mapping services (like OpenStreetMap via Leaflet) which may log IP addresses as part of their standard operation.
Data Security
We implement standard security measures to protect the minimal data we collect and ensure the integrity of our platform.
AI assistant
Questions you type into Leafy, the sustainHK AI assistant, are sent to an AI provider through Floot AI only to generate a reply. sustainHK does not store your conversation; it stays in your browser tab and is cleared when you close it. Please don't enter personal information. To keep the service fair and affordable, we keep an anonymised daily usage count for each visitor, keyed by a salted hash that changes every day. We never store your IP address.
Your Rights
You may contact us to request the removal of any location data or email addresses you have submitted to us.
Changes
We may update this policy occasionally. Continued use of the site means you accept the updated terms.
